Family And Child Education

Overview of the Program

The FACE Program has served over 10,000 Native American families since it begun in 1991 by the Office of Indian Education.  It is a family literacy program which allows parents to increase their skills so that they may obtain their GED or prepare them to further their education in college, while their children learn in a nearby classroom.  Parents learn how to work with their children to prepare them for Kindergarten.  Children learn how to work together to make wise choices, solve problems, follow directions and many other skills that will help them be good students.  The native culture and language are essential components of the learning environment, teaching practices and curriculum.
